When the Scribe Does the Reasoning: Ambient Artificial Intelligence, Inference Impersonation, and the Development of Trainees' Clinical Judgment

This paper identifies and names the phenomenon of "inference impersonation"—ambient AI scribes generate rather than transcribe clinical reasoning in the Assessment and Plan, producing text indistinguishable from transcription in the final note, so trainees may edit AI drafts instead of reasoning independently and risk never developing the judgment training exists to build; it proposes vendor-side learner-specific configurations and section-level transparency plus training-program responses such as reasoning-before-note, competency gating, and oral assessment.

The entanglement of place in the corporatised governance of schools: Thinking poetically with Barad

Drawing on Karen Barad's (2007) concepts of intra-action and the agential cut, this chapter employs a poetic inquiry approach situated in three multi-academy trusts in England, and through two agential cuts embodied in distinct poetic forms materialises how place entangles with governance policy, architecture, and actors to configure parental engagement, thereby repositioning place as a co-agentic participant in governance.

Urban Lifelines: The Future Between Foreclosure and Foreshadowing

The book offers a body of concepts to encapsulate a threatened yet resistant urbanism, arguing that popular practices and knowledges within urban communities and neighbourhoods contain potentially reparative and curative elements, exemplified in the streets of Kinshasa, Lagos, Mexico City and Naples, and outlines an infrastructural and aesthetic politics to bring out that potential.

Educating Minds with Generative AI: Treating GenAI as a Diagnostic Catalyst for Educational Ecologies

This Perspective argues that generative AI should not be understood as just another teaching tool for efficiency and personalization, but as an active, persistent, generalist, and increasingly autonomous cognitive artefact and 'epistemic infrastructure' that restructures schools' cognitive ecologies by redistributing epistemic labour and consolidating feedback, assessment, explanation, content generation, and tutoring within a single interface; on this basis the authors identify two enduring misalignments, a pedagogical gap between learning sciences and AI design and a goal gap between measurable performance and developmental aims, both reflecting logics of efficiency, standardization, and control already embedded in existing educational systems, which GenAI does not introduce but risks en

Characterizing Family Abuse in Suicidal Ideation Posts on Reddit: Large Language Model-Assisted Content Analysis

Analyzing 27,434 posts from the Reddit SuicideWatch forum with a combination of manual review, large language model-assisted keyword expansion, natural language processing-based information extraction, and human validation, this study identified posts where suicidal ideation and family abuse co-occurred and described self-disclosed age and gender, abuse types, and relationships to perpetrators: among posts with self-reported age, individuals aged 18 to 24 accounted for the largest proportion (144/313, 46.0%); among posts with self-reported gender, men represented 57.3% (86/150); physical abuse was most frequent (683/975, 70.1%; 95% CI 67.18%-72.93%), followed by emotional or psychological abuse (350/975, 35.9%; 95% CI 32.89%-38.91%) and sexual abuse (296/975, 30.4%; 95% CI 27.47%-33.

The Rise of Science Philanthropy in Brazil: From the Serrapilheira Institute to a Local Funding Alliance

This Nature news report describes the rise of science philanthropy in Brazil: over the past decade the country saw the founding of its first non-profit dedicated to funding scientific research, the Serrapilheira Institute, which has distributed more than US$25 million to early-career researchers, alongside other funders such as Pioneer Science and the Pensi Institute, a 2023 research centre at the University of São Paulo to study and foster science philanthropy, and early efforts to form a local association inspired by the US Science Philanthropy Alliance.

Exploitation of Public Figures' Faces by AI Platforms: Unjust Enrichment and Layered Accountability under Indonesian Law

Using normative legal research grounded in the Copyright Law, the Electronic Information and Transactions Law, the Personal Data Protection Law, and Article 1365 of the Civil Code, this study argues that a public figure's face has shifted within generative AI ecosystems from a marker of identity into an intangible economic asset sustaining platform valuation, while existing legal regimes remain fragmented rather than complementary—copyright refuses to treat a face as a protectable work and data protection law leans toward privacy rather than economic interest; this misalignment allows the four elements of unjust enrichment (enrichment, loss, causation, and absence of legal basis) to be satisfied and opens the possibility of qualifying the conduct as unlawful under Article 1365, on which ba

Large Language Models Predict Human Social Behavior via Interpretable Mechanisms

This study introduces MindEvolve, an autonomous workflow in which multiple large language models generate interpretable symbolic models of cognition for a battery of socioeconomic games spanning four core domains of social cognition—economic preferences, social preferences, social reasoning (theory of mind), and recursive planning—with expert human evaluators assessing interpretability and theoretical coherence; results show that most LLMs robustly capture economic and social preferences in relatively simple strategic settings and in some cases generate novel models integrating broader knowledge than those proposed by human experts, while their capacity to model more complex psychological processes remains limited, though a subset of state-of-the-art models shows promising performance on h

Adolescent engagement and sentiment toward reproductive-health videos on Chinese social media: a cross-sectional content analysis

Using an 18-keyword query, this study retrieved 743 Bilibili reproductive-health videos published between September 2016 and June 2024, covering 486.8 million views, 12.3 million likes, and roughly 760,000 textual entries, described engagement metrics with descriptive and Pearson-correlation analyses, and applied a three-class sentiment classifier powered by Qwen2.5-32B to comments and danmaku, finding that adolescent engagement centres on basic contraception while niche or contentious topics (sterilisation surgery 3.0%, fertility-awareness-based methods 2.3%) attract disproportionately high interaction, only 17% of uploaders had confirmed medical training, and negative sentiment predominated for induced abortion (52.2%) and novel contraceptives (52.
